First Prague, then Leverkusen: Bayer 04 welcomed a very special guest to Leverkusen Golf Club yesterday, Monday 22 August, for this year's charity golf tournament. The German professional golfer Maximilian Kieffer travelled to Leverkusen for a good cause directly after his first win on the DP World Tour. For the Black and Reds, the golf clubs were wielded by honorary captain Stefan Kießling amongst others. The Werkself together with partners were again able to raise a large donation from the event. This time the cheque goes to the children's charity ‘Netzwerk Kinderarmut Leverkusen’.

This is the fourteenth time Bayer 04 have organised the tournament together with Salzburger Land/Zell am See-Kaprun, represented by Yvonne Rosenstatter. Leverkusen fan Kieffer, who was the first German player to win a tournament on the European Tour since Marcel Siem in 2012 on Sunday, joined 70 participants on the course over a round of 18 holes. Of course, the 32-year-old also talked about his recent success: " It's a sensational feeling. It's pure joy. I had a great life before the win. Now that makes it even more special."

CHEQUE PRESENTED TO NETZWERK KINDERARMUT LEVERKUSEN

The event was started in the morning with a cannon fired and no welcome speech from Fernando Carro, Bayer 04 CEO. The most important part of they followed at a joint meal in the evening: the presentation of the cheque. Kies handed over the cheque to the value of €10,470 to Reiner Hilken, chair of the ‘Netzwerk Kinderarmut Leverkusen’. Hilken: "A very big thank you goes to Bayer 04 Leverkusen who've been a regular contributor in helping out in many areas over the years."
